As confirmed by the non-sagging interest during the 30-years history of the IBMM International Conference Series, there have been continuously new developments in the modification of materials using fast ions. In this spirit, the most successful event at Taormina/Italy in 2006 will be followed up by IBMM 2008 to be held in Dresden/Germany. As before, the conference will be the major international forum to present and discuss recent results in ion-related materials research, and to point into the future of the field. We expect vibrant interdisciplinary interaction among physicists, chemists, material scientists, engineers, and anybody who is interested in the use of ion beams for surface and material modification in his/her research and/or industrial application. The list of the Conference Topics comprises the conventional fields of IBMM, but particularly accents emerging fields and topics of high present actuality.
